An absorbing well written introduction to the Norse god Thor by Morgan Daimler. Part of the Pagan Portal series of books by Moon Books, and following Daimler’s book on Odin released a year or so before. Thor is probably the most popular of the Norse gods, though sadly often only depicted as a muscle-bound hammer thrower, with his complexity and intelligence often underestimated. Daimler’s book redresses the balance and although only 82 pages long, this book has everything you will need to get started on your path, be it to worship or simply to learn more about the god Thor.
Morgan Daimler’s style of writing is engaging, and concise, and her research into the subjects she writes about, is second to none, making her a very trustworthy source of study. What I especially like in Daimler’s books is the personalisation of the subjects she writes about, for example in this book, she adds recommendations on statues and suggested rituals, even commenting on the recent pop culture Marvel depiction of Thor. I also admired her stance of racism in Heathenry which is sometime that has needs addressing for the modern audience.
In conclusion, this is a fantastic introductory guide to working with the god Thor and is highly recommended.

Pagan Portals – Thor by Morgan Daimler
Thor is an immensely popular God but also one of contradictions, whose complexity is sometimes underrated. Often depicted as oafish, he was clever enough to outwit the dwarf Alviss (All-wise). A god of storms and thunder, he brought fertility and blessed brides at weddings and although a defender of civilization and order, he usually travelled with a trickster deity.
Pagan Portals – Thor is an introductory book that examines both history and mythology, untangling older beliefs from modern pop-culture.
