This is an informative introduction to the Minoans, their deities and how they are venerated today within the spiritual practices of Ariadne’s Tribe.
Laura Perry presents what is known of this ancient civilisation from literary and archaeological sources for the reader. She uses this to describe the possible changes these people undertook, as their society was assimilated after their land was invaded, following the few threads to describe their survival.
This book offers descriptions of the deities the Minoan’s worshiped, how they were placed within the order of the Pantheon, which is fascinating, with similarities to the way other cultures ascribe their deity, not with specific tasks but as well rounded characters. Also of interest is that the Minoan’s worked with the Sky, Land and Sea, which again corresponds with several other traditions.
The author then illustrates how this information has been incorporated into current day practice, communicating how Ariadne’s Tribe, which she founded, celebrates the sacred calendar, giving examples of rituals, how to live the spiritual life.
With suggestions for further reading and an extensive bibliography, Laura Perry enables anyone interested to fully explore this subject.

Pantheon: The Minoans
Journey through the Labyrinth to meet the Minoan deities of ancient Crete, who are still very much alive in the modern world. The Minoan family of deities is presided over by a trio of mother goddesses representing the three sacred realms of Land, Sky, and Sea. You might recognize some of the names in this pantheon: Ariadne, Dionysus, Rhea, Amalthea – even Minos, Arachne, and the Minotaur. These deities continue to fascinate us as they draw us into the Labyrinth, the sacred maze that leads us on the adventure of a lifetime.
