Meet the author is a series of articles intended to introduce you to our wonderful authors. Learn about the books they’ve written, the spiritual pathways they’ve traversed and some fun little tidbits… introducing Thea Prothero!

Tell us about yourself….
Thea is a Heathen and a pilgrim. She likes to think of herself as a Nemophilist, which means a ‘haunter of woods’. She spends most of her free time walking in the wildest remotest lands, places that still make the gods tremble, and she loves the challenge of finding connection through nature to the divine. She writes prolifically, read equally, has a passion for learning, taking photos, grow things, and spend time with her family. she works in education and lives in the south of the UK.
What books have you written?
My books are A Guide to Pilgrimage and the forthcoming Heathenry for the Solitary Practitioner, released in 2026.
How would you describe your spiritual pathway?
I’m a Heathen. I follow Norse Heathenry which means I work with the deities and beings found mythology and beliefs of the northern lands (Scandinavia) . I practice Seidr – Norse sorcery.
What tips do you have for folk beginning their spiritual journey?
Heathenry is often called the religion with homework and that’s not wrong! Read as much as you can, especially the original sources – the prose and poetic eddas and the sagas. Ask questions, talk to people. Most importantly trust your instinct and your own UPG.

What is something quirky about yourself?
I am intending to stay in every haunted inn/hotel within the UK over the next few years, I am fascinated by ghosts.
I am a published author of ghost and folk horror short stories.
I am a fan of salty liquorice and pickled herrings – though not together!
What Deity(ies) would you love to have dinner with?
Who’s to say I don’t already!
What magical items would you take with you if you had to live on an island for a year?
The land would be all I need – all the magic is found in the landscape if you know how to find it.
Where can people find you?
