Janus is the Roman god of beginnings, gates and doorways. He was considered of the oldest gods, with different names for his many different aspects. According to legend he ruled over an area of Rome, creating a golden age of peace and plenty. Other myths have him as the doorway for humanity itself coming into being and as this aspect he was known as Janus Pater, a god of creation.

In the Julian Calendar the first month of the year was named for him, and the 1st of January was his sacred day.

 He can support you with:

  • Embracing new beginnings and finding the confidence, strength or alignment to begin
  • Finding and amplifying peace. He will remind you of the light and come to aid you in returning feelings of hope.

In this short introductory video, I share my top 3 tips for connecting to Janus, including:

  • Connecting to him at the God of beginnings during his sacred time, so that beginnings feel empowering rather than intimidating
  • His sacred symbols and offerings, and a practice you can do to include them
  • His aspect as ‘Bifrons’, and the relevance of 2 to your spiritual development and growth
