Meet the author is a series of articles intended to introduce you to our wonderful authors. Learn about the books they’ve written, the spiritual pathways they’ve traversed and some fun little tidbits… introducing Sian Sibley!

Tell us a bit about yourself…

My name is Sian Sibley, and I have followed a pagan path since I was 11 years old in the Welsh valleys. I have been leading DragonOak coven for over 30 years and still love practising, teaching and learning in a group setting. My weird, magical family means the world to me. I love learning and have two masters degrees. My first one was in science for work, where I worked in research and manufacturing for years in a pharmaceutical firm, and my second was in ecology and spirituality for the love of the study.

What books have you written?

Unveiling the Green: Working Astrologically, Alchemically and Psychologically with Plants – 2nd edition Aeon publishing (released March 25)

Black Paths and Green Cathedrals – Ecological Paganism, 2nd edition Aeon Publishing (releasing Feb 26)

Drinking Tea and Herding Spiders: a guide to leading a magical group. Aeon Publishing (releasing July 26)

Pagan Portals -Medusa Moon Books publishing release 2026.

The Slow Fatal Dance – medicine at the crossroads of science and magic – work in progress

How would you describe your spiritual pathway?

I am an animist who is also a devotee of Hekate and Hermes

I think magic is the life force of reality, and there is not a single thing that is not magical.

I believe that we are not the most important people on the planet, though sadly, we think we are not

What tips do you have for folk beginning their spiritual journey?

Remember that there are many paths, and some may not be right for you. That is not a failure; it just means you have not found your joy yet. Be safe and take responsibility for your own safety, and never think you have to do something just because someone said you must.

And take joy and be grateful for small things, define what is enough for you, that is a revolution in itself.

What is something quirky about yourself?

I am a 6th Dan martial artist who has studied a Korean style of karate for over 30 years. However, I am only 4 ft 11, so I do a good job biting people’s knees.

What Deity(ies) would you love to have dinner with?

Oooof, this is a difficult one, and I think I would have to pick The Muses think of what you could learn.

What magical items would you take with you if you had to live on an island for a year?

A tree, for someone to talk to and my tarot, so that I could go anywhere through their doors.

Where can people find you?

Facebook – yes, I am that old, I even have an AOL email addy

Patreon, where I run free courses and videos called Ecological Witchcraft

And Substack for the odd curse-filled rant
