Meet the author is a series of articles intended to introduce you to our wonderful authors. Learn about the books they’ve written, the spiritual pathways they’ve traversed and some fun little tidbits… introducing Graeme Talboys!

Tell us a bit about yourself…

I was born in Hammersmith and have lived in all sorts of places since, currently in a small Scottish village. I have swept factory floors, worked as a pot boy, stacked supermarket shelves, acted professionally and as an amateur, taught drama, run education departments in museums, and now write full-time.

What books have you written?

Many – academic and general non-fiction, including several titles for Moon Books; fiction (mostly fantasy, some sci-fi, and a spy novel or two), and numerous articles over the years for various anarchist and green magazines.

How would you describe your spiritual pathway?

Circuitous, but always out there in the natural world.

What tips do you have for folk beginning their spiritual journey?

Enjoy it. Treat it for what it is – a relationship. Move slowly, have fun, respect the other.

What is something quirky about yourself?

I have no idea. I’m a Maidiac (if you know, you know, and you don’t, you really should go listen to them – Band-Maid). Which I suppose is a clue to what some would consider a quirk in that my favourite music is Japanese (traditional and modern), my favourite authors are, for the most part, Japanese, my favourite films are… You get the picture (yup, Japanese woodblock prints).

What Deity(ies) would you love to have dinner with?

Benzaiten so that I could thank her for all that she gifted to the world, but especially the music.

What magical items would you take with you if you had to live on an island for a year?

Books. Many books. For me, they are the ultimate magic, and writers are magicians.

Where can people find you?

They can’t these days. I am by nature increasingly reclusive. The nearest anyone can get to me is through my books.
