Tell us a bit about yourself…

I’m a Wilderness Woman, a quirky, off-the-wall, laid-back, spirit keeper (awenydd), and Crazy Cat Lady. I walk between worlds, as the old British shaman says. The lands of the Celtic Noir – western Britain, the Highlands of Scotland, the west coast of France, the Pyrenees, the French Basque Country, and the Occitan. The stories are all set in these lands. I know them so well, my heart’s home.

How would you describe your spiritual pathway?

Exciting, fun, practical, hard work, forces honesty, amplifies every aspect of my life, means I never need to walk alone, inspires my writing, blogging, podcasting, teaching and my heart’s desire novels every hour of every day. And it enables me to live the life that makes my heart sing.

What is something fun and quirky about yourself?

Bragging rights: danced for Arlene Phillips: hitched a ride in a jet fighter-trainer: been kissed by Mick Jagger. 

Motto: “If the cat and the boyfriend disagree, get rid of the boyfriend!”

What tips do you have for folk beginning their spiritual journey?

Be prepared to let go of everything you ever thought you knew … go in empty and be full of expectancy, but without expectations.

Which deity or deities would you love to have dinner with?

Well, I usually pop down the Shapeshifters’ Arms a few nights a week for a pub supper and hang out with Myrddyn, Elen Luyddog, Gwyn ap Nudd and Pan for a few wee drams.

What magical items would you take with you if you had to live on an island for a year?

Oh Bliss! You mean no humanity? Bring it on! I could not possibly ever go without my familiar spirit, Kellan Cat. I always need my laptop, plus a solar charger and a high-powered internet dongle. A couple of bottles of 25-year Bruichladdich are vital to keep the system whole. Those not spiritual? Oh yes, they are! They’re my work, and the means to do it, and no way, not never, could I stop doing my work, not while I’m still breathing. And anyway, I’d get banned from the Shapeshifters’ Arms if I did.
